What is with these Mean Girls references?Ĭheck out the song’s audio here… This music video will be interesting. She stood up for her friend while also trashing Perry’s singles. One member of Taylor Swift’s squad, Ruby Rose, has already taken notice of “Swish Swish,” which is good because it’s going to need it. Eventually, they did a duet on stage, with Swift transitioning from “Bad Blood” (aka Katy Perry’s least fave song) to Minaj’s “The Night Is Still Young.”īasically: Nicki Minaj seems to have jumped from Team Swift to Team Perry… which is a lot more juicy than Perry’s own attempts at thinly-veiled insults. After Minaj complained about racism in the nomination process for the VMAs, Swift made the tweets about herself (shocking) and the two went back and forth. You may remember Nicki Minaj’s Taylor Swift scuffle a few years back. Yes, Nicki gives her Remy Ma feud a quick shout-out, but she also raps that she only “f*cks with queens.” Now what makes this even more interesting is Nicki Minaj’s verse. She also mentions the word “calculated,” which Taylor Swift has commented on before in her career. Perry goes on to say that she’s tired of the person in question talking about her, saying, “Funny my name keeps comin’ outcho mouth.” Yikes. Not only does she mention karma and receipts (though this could just be Perry mentioning trendy buzz words to seem cool and hip… or a nod to the Kim Kardashian Snapchat fiasco), she also plays on the common phrase of a “lion not using sleep over the opinions of sheep.” In this case, she deems herself a tiger, cautioning rivals, “Don’t you come for me.” She also mentions the sheep part of the original phrase, but in this case it comes off a bit more ominous when considering her T.Swift subtweet in which she referred to her enemy as a “Regina George in sheep’s clothing.” Perry’s new single “Swish Swish” is a searing kiss-off to any of her self-proclaimed rivals or enemies and it’s pretty obvious who exactly she’s talking about. Though she kinda said she wouldn’t respond to Taylor Swift’s shady “Bad Blood,” it seems as though she’s changed her tune… literally. It has been a tumultuous few weeks for Perry, who has been in trouble with the internet and faced some bizarre relationship rumors. Katy Perry is finally firing back at Taylor Swift and she’s doing it with the help of the diss track queen herself, Nicki Minaj.
